Clubhouse, the most popular application of the last period, has been on our agenda quite a lot in recent weeks. The application, which is currently only available to iOS users and Android users can be included with APKs, has already reached more than 8 million downloads globally.
However, Clubhouse is not only on our agenda with its popularity or the increase in the number of users, because Batuhan Katırcı, who announced that there is a very important gap in the Clubhouse application in the past weeks, stated that even if you are not a speaker in any room, you can be secretly involved in the conversation. In addition, Stanford Internet Observatory (SIO) announced that they found a vulnerability in the Clubhouse and that conversations in the application may be tapped by China. Subsequently, a statement came from Clubhouse and the company said it would take serious steps to solve the problem.
The privacy issues in Clubhouse, which chooses to use Agora and Pubnub services in its infrastructure, are of course resolved at one point. However, there are some problems on the user side of the application. One of them is that you cannot access statistics on the rooms you manage. In order for Clubhouse to go beyond a simple “chat” application and to be used in different areas. I think users should have access to some statistics. However, the company does not share information such as how many users join a room in total. How many minutes people talk on average. Seeing this vulnerability, the developers also developed a tool called Direcon. Which makes it easier to manage Clubhouse sessions and provides statistics about the sessions.
Detailed statistics about sessions
Direcon, which was implemented by Burak Ünver, Atakan Göktepe, Batuhan Katırcı, Nejat Can Ünlü and Buğra Kaan Ayaz. The duration of the room, the number of listeners reached at one time, the total number of listeners attending the room, the total listening time, the new followers gained during the session, the average listening time. It provides statistics such as the number of people speaking in the room, the number of people raising their hands.
Developed in 3 weeks
The only benefit Direcon provides is not related to the sessions. Because when you use the application, you can mute the selected speakers more easily. And you can easily mute other people other than this speaker. Features such as moving a speaker to the audience, setting a timer for the speaker, and seeing information. Such as whether that person has attended a session before. When someone raises their hand in the current session is also offered to the user by Direcon.
